Meet Leah – our Inna Spirit member of the month for December.

Leah was nominated by one of our beautiful teaching team members:

“Leah has such a sunny, positive attitude and it makes each class a little brighter when she’s around.  She’s an encouraging member, not only to other members in the class but more importantly, towards herself.  There have been times where I’ve seen her notice her own progress and celebrate her own wins.  I find that our members are quick to encourage others but can sometimes find it difficult to celebrate and commend themselves on their own achievements so I love when members do this!!!

She attends a variety of different classes with a number of our instructors and is a regular contributor to the Inna Circle facebook page.”

When and why did you join Inna Essence?

Leah joined Inna Essence at the beginning of 2022.  She has always loved Pilates and Yoga and had done self-directed classes at home, but she wanted to find a studio where she could learn, and grow and be guided on how to do exercises and movements with greater awareness of technique and form.

“I Googled looking for studios near me, and saw Inna Essence was mostly female-dominant and that made me feel comfortable.  As soon as I got to the studio, I really, really liked it!  I was hooked the minute I walked in the door.”

What do you love most about the studio?

“I love the people; community really makes the space and environment.  You can always make a place feel and look ‘pretty’ aesthetically.  But the people, community, members and staff really affect how the studio truly feels.”

What are you passionate about and how do you look after your wellbeing and selfcare?

Leah is passionate about community, especially women and indigenous communities.  She and her family are strong speakers and advocators for people in community, and aim to provide a level of support for those within indigenous communities.

Leah helps raise her teenage siblings as her mother works within the Disability Royal Commission. As well as helping to run her household, support her brothers and sisters and assist her mother, aunts and uncles, Leah also works in administration for a transport industry.

What is your favourite class at Inna Essence and why?

“I don’t think I have a single favourite class – I love all of them.  I love the fact that there is so much variety in every class and as well from each instructor.  I can gain a different benefit from each session I attend.”

Words of advice for someone wanting to try Pilates?

“I would say you are never going to look back and regret trying; I have many friends who have social anxiety and I encourage them that Pilates and Yoga is progressive, balanced, and works in with all your home and work commitments.  Also, you don’t need to be perfect at it before you start; just come as you are!”
