Meet Karen, Our Inna Spirit Member of the Month for April

At Inna Essence, we are privileged to have a community of dedicated, inspiring members who make our studio the warm and welcoming space it is.

This month, we celebrate Karen K as our Member of the Month. Karen’s passion for movement, mindfulness, and connection embodies the very essence of what we strive to create at Inna Essence.

What Our Instructors Say About Karen

From Liam, “Karen is kind and outgoing to all. Her energy is contagious, and she is an absolute joy to be around; her presence is always noticed. Karen is always consistent in her attendance and has a never-give-up attitude and always perseveres through her classes.”

From Jen, “Karen has progressed in her Yoga practice immensely in the time she has been at Inna Essence!”

What challenges or goals first brought you to Inna Essence?

“I wanted to stay flexible as I get older and build my strength while deepening my Yoga practice. It was important for me to have my own space to grow in my journey. Yoga is so much more than physical movement—it’s about feeling connected in body, mind, and soul.

Taking time for yourself is crucial. If I don’t look after myself, I’m less productive in other areas of my life. Even if it’s just an hour, that act of restoration is so important. It’s not selfish—it’s about becoming a better version of yourself. Research shows that over-exertion in a gym setting can sometimes put extra stress on the body, but for me, Yoga is about peace, mindset, and building core strength.

Since practicing regularly, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my strength and balance. Recently, I had a slight fall, and I truly believe that my Yoga practice helped me avoid a serious injury. The fundamentals of Yoga—core strength, balance, and mindful movement—have made me feel so much stronger overall.”

What is it about Yoga that motivates you?

“Yoga has helped me cultivate a sense of calm in my mind. I don’t get rattled as easily, and I’ve learned to focus on what truly needs my attention in the present moment. Practicing Yoga has given me the ability to create space and perspective in my life.

I’ve been practicing consistently for seven years, and I absolutely connect with the flow state of Yoga. I love Active Flow classes with Liam, Crystal, and Gabby. The instructors introduce new poses every week, keeping the practice fresh and engaging. Their energy and dedication are amazing, and I feel incredibly grateful to attend their classes.”

What do you love most about the studio?

“Inna Essence isn’t just a studio—it’s a community. It’s a place where people come together, move together, and leave feeling amazing. What Andrea & Anna have created—the ambience, the culture, the warmth—it’s all so special.

The space itself is beautiful, from the lighting to the decor, creating an inviting and calming environment. When you walk in, you’re greeted by the cozy reception lounge, and the Yoga room holds you in a space of peace and connection.

The sense of unity is incredible. Everyone is here for a common purpose, and there’s such a friendly and supportive culture. We can laugh when we fall out of a pose—there’s no judgment, only encouragement. We’re all growing stronger, both physically and mentally, together.”

What would you say to a friend who is keen to try a class at Inna Essence?

“Everyone at Inna Essence is here for the same reason—to feel stronger, more balanced, and more connected. And every single member is made to feel valued and welcomed. Andrea and Anna have built a space that embraces everyone, and that warmth is felt the moment you walk through the doors.

A lot of people hesitate to try Yoga because they’re too busy, or they wonder if they’ll actually get something out of it. Some people think, ‘Should I just go to the gym more?’ But Yoga and Pilates offer something deeper.

Many of my colleagues know that I practice Yoga, and so many of them have expressed interest in trying it. I always tell them: ‘If you make time for shopping or going to the pub, why not make time for Yoga?’ Prioritising yourself isn’t a luxury—it’s a necessity. In today’s world, where mental health challenges are so common, finding that time for self-care is essential.

Yoga isn’t just for young, flexible women—it’s for everyone. Men and women of all ages can benefit from it. So if you’ve been thinking about trying a class, just do it. You won’t regret it.”

Karen, thank you for sharing your journey and for being such a valued part of our Inna Essence family. Your dedication and energy inspire us all!
