Jane’s Journey
Discovering strength, balance, and community at Inna Essence
When Jane first discovered Inna Essence, it was a turning point in her wellness journey. Having previously attended another gym primarily for yoga, she found herself searching for something more fulfilling after the instructor she enjoyed left. That’s when she came across Inna Essence online.
“I saw that Inna Essence offered yoga, so I decided to give it a try. When I walked into the studio for the first time, I noticed these intriguing machines – the Reformers – and I was immediately curious.”
Being someone who loves to research, Jane went home and looked into Reformer Pilates. She quickly learned how it not only stretches the body but builds strength too – and how well the movements could suit her needs.
Not long after, Jane joined her first Reformer class and found herself both challenged and comfortable – a combination she hadn’t experienced before.
That was nearly five years ago. Since then, Jane’s practice has expanded to include the Stability Chair – something she was initially hesitant about.
“It looked really tricky at first, but I’ve grown to like it. I especially enjoy the new Hybrid Pilates class – 40 minutes that combine both the Reformer and the Chair. The variety keeps it interesting and engaging.”
Jane’s motivation to keep moving is deeply rooted in her health. Now in her 70s, and managing Osteopenia along with recovering from several surgeries, she knows firsthand how vital movement is for strength and mobility.
What Keeps Jane Coming Back
Jane works part-time as a Medical Librarian, spending long hours seated at a desk. Her sessions at Inna Essence provide the perfect counterbalance.
“My shoulders feel stronger and more toned. In class, I’m constantly reminded to relax them – they tend to sneak up toward my ears without me noticing! I also try to work on my balance outside of the studio, like standing on one leg while waiting for a coffee.”
For Jane, the variety of classes and the diversity of instructors are what keep her engaged.
“I love that each teacher brings their own unique style and approach. There are some positions that don’t feel comfortable for me, but the instructors always offer a suitable modification. Every class feels thoughtfully prepared.”
She appreciates the focus on proper technique too.
“Technique-wise, Andrea is incredible. She’s always attentive to form and alignment. I also love the energy that Winda brings – she’s adorable and funny – and Paula is so gentle and beautiful in her approach.”
What Jane Loves most about Inna Essence
“It’s not just a studio – it feels like a home,” Jane reflects.
She loves the open, spacious rooms and the overall calming environment. One of her favourite things is how well the studio is cared for.
“I notice the attention to detail – how Andrea and Anna are always updating the equipment and maintaining the space. They’re genuinely invested in the studio and the people in it.”
That sense of care extends to the little things, too.
“I feel completely comfortable turning on the fan or air conditioning if I need it. Everyone is so considerate – it’s a space where your comfort is truly respected.”
Jane also values the sense of community that goes beyond regular classes.
“I see how Andrea and Anna put in the effort to organise special events and retreats. That’s what makes Inna Essence more than a place to exercise – it’s a real community.”
Jane’s Message to You
A strong believer in science and evidence-based practices, Jane is passionate about staying informed – and staying active.
“As someone in the medical field, I always pay attention to the research. If you’re concerned about ageing, mobility, dementia, or heart health, the three most important things you can do are: exercise, eat well, and maintain social connection.”
“And even if you’re already managing health issues like osteoporosis or arthritis, any movement you can do now will make a difference.”
Thank you, Jane, for your inspiring words and for being such a valued part of the Inna Essence community.
