Meet Sarah, our Inna Spirit Member of the Month for June!  Sarah is truly dedicated to regular movement and relaxation for her mind and body.  She is aware of the physical and emotional impacts of work and lifestyle stressors, and is conscious of ensuring she makes time for her Yoga practice.

What prompted you to join Inna Essence?  

About 8 years ago, Sarah was juggling work, relationships, motherhood, staying active and being everything to everyone around her.  She was involved in high intensity boot camps, waking up before dawn, and pushing her mind and body to its limits.  

Then there was a shift; Sarah was struggling with pressures at work and the demands of family, and she was the meat in the middle.  She felt exhausted, drained, and at an emotional breaking point.  

Sarah shares “I did really crazy boot-camps, and when my mental health failed, I quit that and turned to something that I needed to calm me down.  Boot-camp was too much physical stress, so I turned to Yoga.  I pulled back from work for a number of months, and focused on my health, finding Yin Yoga really helps to slow me down.  I immediately fell in love with it”


Why is Yoga your chosen form of exercise?

“If I miss coming to the studio for a few days, I start to feel fried around the edges.  I come and go from Reformer classes, but I keep coming back to Yoga.  I really enjoy it!”

Sarah does a great balance of different styles of Yoga, ranging from Yin and Restorative Yoga, through to Active Flow Yoga.

What do you love most about the studio? What is your favourite class at Inna Essence and why?

Sarah says, “From the moment you walk in, you honestly just get a feeling – a wave of calm and a feeling that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”

When she arrives at Inna Essence, Sarah feels as though nothing else matters.  She loves the feeling when she is in the Yoga Room and on her mat, that this is all she needs to do, to just be here, and sigh.

“I’ve been to a few yoga studios in the past, and what Inna Essence has created is a next level feeling.”  Sarah’s favourite class is Yin Yoga with Mari-Anne, as well as Active Flow Yoga with Liam. 


What changes have you felt in your mind and body since joining Inna Essence?

Sarah shares, “The ability to switch off, particularly in Yin and Restorative Yoga when you are in a pose for a few minutes.  My brain can now quiet the chitter-chatter in my head; I’ve developed the ability to acknowledge thoughts but put it to the side until after class.”

Sarah has also surprised herself with improvements in her strength and flexibility without even realising!  There were some postures in the Active Flow Yoga class that she couldn’t do before, and now triumphantly,  ‘My fingers are touching! – I progressed and didn’t even realise it!”
